Kay's first novels were the landmark fantasy trilogy "The Fionavar Tapestry", consisting of The Summer Tree, The Wandering Fire, and The Darkest Road. A few years later his standalone novel, Tigana, an alternate history set in Italy, was released to great praise. In 1993 his most recent novel, A Song for Arbonne, was published. In addition to his now-standard rave reviews, this novel also achieved bestseller status in Canada.
