Budding Sci-fi Writers Wanted
Looking for a place to hone your book about aliens infiltrating the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader’s locker room? Sign up for the writers’ workshop at ArmadilloCon.
ArmadilloCon, an annual science-fiction, fantasy and horror convention in Austin, TX, offers an outstanding workshop for beginning, intermediate and established writers. Every year, professional editors and writers give their time to the convention to help other attendees g et invaluable critique and feedback. Each member of the workshop will also offer their feedback on the submissions of their fellow writers.
"The writers’ workshop has become an established forum at ArmadilloCon," said Kimm Antell, chair of the convention. “In the past few years, not only have we had some outstanding instructors, but we have also had members of the workshop make great connections with their instructors that have turned into being published.”
The ArmadilloCon Writers' Workshop has become a major event for aspiring SF/F writers to get wisdom and networking opportunities with major pro editors and authors.
This year’s instructors include Matthew Bey, Steve Wilson, Chris Roberson, Patrice Sarath, Jessica Reisman, Rick Klaw, Martha Wells, Diana Gill, Wendy Wheeler and Jayme Lynn Blaschke. Long-time science-fiction writer James P. Hogan will also speak to the workshop about his experiences as a writer and some of the tips he can give to help the attendees get published.
The workshop has a limited number of memberships still available, so applicants are encouraged to sign-up soon. The deadline for manuscripts is July 9, 2006. If you can’t attend this year, make plans to attend next year and get those fingers typing!
