The charity for ArmadilloCon 28 is Capital Area Reach Out and Read.

"Reach Out and Read (ROR) is a national non-profit pediatric literacy program that is endorsed by The American Academy of Pediatrics, the Texas Pediatric Society, and the Texas Medical Association. It promotes early literacy by bringing new books and advice about the importance of reading aloud into the pediatric exam room. The ROR-trained doctors actually give prescriptions to the parents for reading to their children, particularly between the ages of six months and five years."

BOOK DONATIONS
Donations of new or gently used books are greatly appreciated. "Gently used" books have covers and pages that are clean and intact. Their greatest need is for books for children between birth and five years old.

Holding a Book Drive in your organization is an excellent way to collect books that can be donated to one or more of our sites.
